Canyon Drive ADU

The client wanted an exercise, entertainment and office space that could also be rented out as a dwelling. The existing garage provided the perfect location for this addition.The property is in a historical zone and one of the limitations was that the front facade of the garage had to be maintained. We opened out the other side of the garage (now converted to a living and kitchen) to the rear garden and added a small sleeping area/office and bathroom at the upper level. The large Chinese elm in the garden was an inspiration to recreate a treehouse feel to the second story addition with an unusual window designed to frame and view this beautiful tree.
